Marriage Licenses

Marriage licenses can be obtained at ANY Clerk’s office in the State of NH for a marriage taking place anywhere in NH, regardless of where either spouse lives. This transaction must be done in person with both applicants present (Limited exceptions may be made). Both applicants will need to bring their photo ID’s and any dissolution paperwork pertaining to their most recent dissolved marriage, if one exists. (Ex. Divorce decree, death certificate, annulment) The license costs $50 and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete, so please come no later than 30 minutes before our office closes. Marriage licenses are good for 90 days from the date of issue.

You can find a Justice of the Peace to complete your ceremony at FINDAJP.com.

*If either spouse plans to change their name as part of the marriage, be sure to indicate that on the marriage license application. All name changes must then be updated with DMV with-in 30 days after the marriage ceremony. Failure to do so will result in having to file with the court to legally change your name, resulting in more time and costs.
