Allenstown, New Hampshire Election Dates:2024

Presidential Primaries: ONE in 2022- Two separate preliminary elections, held at the same time on the same day, where each party votes to decide who they would like to place as their Presidential candidate representing their party on the November State and Federal General Election ballot . Each party has their own ballot with only their parties prospective candidates listed on it. Only declared members of the party may participate in each party's Primary. Ex: A registered Republican cannot participate in the Democrat's Presidential Primary Election and vice versa. Undeclared voters (those with NO party affiliation) may choose to participate in either parties Presidential Primary Election, but not in both, by declaring their party affiliation to be with the party whose Primary they would like to participate in, at the polls on the Presidential Primary Election day. Not participating in a Presidential Primary does not prevent you from voting in the State and Federal General Election in November. The winner of a Presidential Primary Election will represent their respective party in the November State and Federal General Election for a chance to win the actual office of the Presidency of the USA. Presidential Primaries are held only once every 4 years, when the office of the Presidency will be on that year's November General Election Ballot.

Town and School Elections: Tuesday, March 12, 2024- The election of local (Town and School only) officials and deciding to pass or fail local Town and School specific warrant articles. The local warrant articles most often deal with the way that the local tax dollars, raised through property taxes and other Town monies collected, will be spent. This is also two separate elections being held on the same day, the Town election and the School election. Voters will receive a separate ballot for each election. This election has a direct impact on your property taxes and the way that your Town and School choose to spend and/or save the tax dollars that they have already collected, as well as determining projects that will be funded by taxes that will be collected in the future. The property tax rate that is set each Fall will be directly impacted by the results of this election. This election is held on the second Tuesday of March, EVERY year and is preceded by the Deliberative Session: Saturday, February 3, 2024- (usually the last Sat. of Jan. or 1st Sat. of Feb.) where all the warrant articles are discussed and can be amended by the voters before they are printed on the March ballots. Click here to learn more about the process.

State Primary Elections: September 10, 2024 - Two separate preliminary elections, held at the same time on the same day, where each party (Republican and Democrat) votes to decide who they would like to place as their candidate to represent their party on the November General Election ballot. Each party has their own ballot with only their parties prospective candidates listed on it. Only declared members of a party may participate in each party's Primary. Ex: A registered Democrat cannot participate in the Republican’s Primary Election and vice versa. Undeclared voters (those with no party affiliation) may choose to participate in either parties Primary Election, but not in both, by declaring their party affiliation to be with the party whose Primary they would like to participate in, at the polls on the Primary Election day. Voters who arrive at the polls as registered undeclared voters and those who register to vote on election day as undeclared voters, CAN change their party status back to undeclared status, at the polls immediately after voting, before they leave the polling place on election day. No other party changes are allowed by voters at the polls on election day. *Not participating in a Primary does not prevent you from voting in the General Election in November. The winner of a Primary Election will represent their party in the November General Election for a chance to win the actual office that they are running for. State Primaries are held in September every other year, in the even years. Ex. 2022, 2024, 2026.

State and Federal General Election: November 5, 2024- Election for State and Federal NH representatives such as State and Federal Senators, Representatives, and County officials. The winning candidates who were selected by each party in their Primary Elections will appear on the one single ballot of mixed party candidates, head to head, where the voter can vote for any candidate regardless of the voter's party affiliation. Ex. Republicans and Democrats alike can vote for a Democrat in one race and a Republican in another and vice versa. The winners of this election will hold the office that they are elected to. State General Elections are held every other year, in the even years. Ex. 2022, 2024, 2026. Once every 4 years, this election will include the Office of the President of the USA. The next State and Federal General Election that includes the office of the President will be in November 2024.
