Solid Waste Ordinance Changes

The Board of Selectmen approved changes to the Town's Solid Waste Ordinance at the meeting last night. Effective May 31st, 2014 the Town will no longer pickup trash or recyclables at curbside for apartment buildings with 4 or more units.
The previous ordinance allowed for pick up at curbside for apartments with as many as 6 units. The amended ordiance was implemented to reduce costs as part of larger effort to contract to have this curbside pick up provided by an outside vendor.
Tenants of apartment buildings still have the ability to bring their trash and recyclables to the transfer station for disposal.
