New Resident and General Town Information and Directory

Welcome to Allenstown! Here is a brief to-do list for new residents along with some important Allenstown information, website links and  phone numbers:

  • Update your address change on your motor vehicle registration by bringing in a piece of mail that has been sent to you at your new Allenstown address, preferably a utility bill, along with your ID and your current motor vehicle registration. We have address change request forms that you can complete in the office or print one and complete it before you come in. There is no charge for an address update. (Contact us for further instructions if you are a new resident who has moved here from out of state or see the Motor Vehicles Transactions page.)
  • Update your address change with the post office at 55 Glass St in Pembroke. (We have a shared Post Office and zip code with Pembroke, NH, 03275, often referred to as Suncook) Updating your registration address does not update your post office address and vice versa.

Allenstown does NOT mail out paper vehicle registration renewal reminder letters. We DO email notices. If you would like to receive an email reminder when your registration is due, please give us your email address when you come to change your physical address. We never share your e-mail address with others.

A town-wide on-street winter parking ban is in effect from 12-6 AM from Nov 15th – April 15th every year.

The Ronnie Pelissier Memorial Boat Launch is a public boat launch at the end of Ferry St for residents to use. Playgrounds can be found at the Boys and Girls Club on Whitten St and at AES. Sports fields are located at AES and on River Rd. There is also a large park, Memorial Field, right next door in Pembroke that is available for residents use. Amenities include walking trails, swim areas, playground, basket ball court, sports fields, pavilion and tables and grills. Residents of other towns can purchase an Allenstown Library membership for only $10. Allenstown residents can also purchase their own Pembroke library membership at the Pembroke library for $15.

Allenstown hosts many community events throughout the Summer such as outdoor concerts at Town Hall, out-door big screen movies, classic car cruise nights, community wide yard sales, etc. Holiday house decorating contests are held for Halloween and Christmas each year. Santa also takes a ride around Town each December. Keep an eye on the Town website, Economic Development page, for more information.

There is a public ice skating rink located between Armand R.Dupont Middle School (ARD) and Town Hall each winter, weather permitting. Volunteers to help maintain the rink are ALWAYS appreciated.  Bring your own skates!

We are always looking for new faces to volunteer on any of the many boards and committees that work to make Allenstown such a great place to live. If you are interested in serving your new community, please reach out to us to let us know. We'd greatly appreciate your help!
