The Allenstown Office of Emergency Management (AOEM) consists of the Emergency Management Director (EMD) and Deputy Emergency Management Directors (D-EMD) who are appointed by the Board of Selectmen on an annual basis. AOEM is responsible for the organization, administration and operation of the emergency functions of the town. The EMD is responsible for coordinating the emergency planning, prevention, mitigation, response and recovery from disasters. Disasters can be manmade or natural.
