The Allenstown Economic Development Committee (EDC) is sponsoring a Townwide Holiday Lighting Contest this season. We know there are many people who love to decorate their homes big time for the Christmas season, so we decided to turn it into a special event as part of our new Community Initiatives. One facet of the Community Initiatives is to "Take action that promotes community spirit and encourages a high quality of life."

Winners will be announced and prizes awarded at the Allenstown Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Town Hall Green on Saturday, December 14th at 4:00 p.m. Prizes for the Best House Decorations and the Best Lawn Decorations include gift certificates to local businesses.

The ARD Music Chorus will lead attendees in some Christmas Caroling while the ARD Student Council will provide light refreshments inside Town Hall after the award ceremony.

What You Need to Do

First, to register your Allenstown property, hurry up and send an e-mail to the EDC or go to the Town Hall.

Second, from now until around December 7th, we want all Allenstown residents to go the Allenstown Facebook site to see the addresses that are participating in the contest. Don't vote right away because we are adding addresses almost daily.

This year, we are offering prizes in two categories.

1. Vote for the place with the Best House Decorations,

AND

2. Vote for the place with the Best Lawn Decorations.

You may vote for your own decorations since that guarantees you at least one vote.

Third, send e-mail with your votes to the EDC or vote at Town Hall on or about December 7th.

Fourth, come to the Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Town Hall Green on Saturday, December 14th at 4:00 p.m. (details in a preceding paragraph) and celebrate!
